Objekat odlikuje originalnost, likovna izražajnost, unutrašnja dinamika i sklonost ka detalju.

Zgrada Кomande vazduhoplovstva u Zemunu poseduje izrazite arhitektonske i kulturno-istorijske vrednosti.

Zgrada predstavlja najveći i najznačajniji objekat izgrađen u okviru Starog jezgra Zemuna.

The Air Force Command building designed by the eminent architect Dragiša Brašovan was constructed in 1935 on the site of the former Military Command. One of the largest buildings in Zemun in terms of volume at the time, it constitutes a commanding sight within the Historic Core of Zemun even today. It is rectangular in plan, arranged round an inner court and preceded by a fore-garden.

It was conceived as an independent block building while at the same time forming a whole with the Zemun Military Command building at 5 Glavna Street. It has the ground floor and four storeys overlooked by a well-proportioned tower whose asymmetrically shaped volume is accentuated by the central dominant. The symmetrical arrangement of the front façade is emphasized by the lateral projections encompassing the ground floor and first two floors. Its side façade is characterized by the rhythm of openings and the carefully and unobtrusively placed statue of Icarus, whose mythological symbolism is associated with the meaning and purpose of the building. The structure’s qualities are originality, visual expressiveness, inner dynamism and an affinity for detail.
The building has considerable architectural, historical and cultural value. It is one of the architect Dragiša Brašovan’s most original designs and a noteworthy work of Yugoslav modern architecture between the two world wars. In broad strokes and through the play of masses the architect realized a coherent architectural programme, using at the same time a symbolic spatial composition to express the building’s distinctive content. It is the largest and most important building constructed within the Historic Core of Zemun.
